Chester Haynes

Chester M. Haynes, Jr, of Caldwell, died February 10, 2013 at Streamside Assisted Living in Nampa, Idaho. Chester, son of Chester M. and Millie Cummings Haynes, was born July 5, 1918 in Baker, Oregon. He Moved to Caldwell at a very young age and was raised on a farm in the Franklin Community on Highway 20/26. He attended Franklin Grade School and graduated from Caldwell High School. He then continued his education in Engineering at the University of Idaho at Moscow. He withdrew midway through his sophomore year due to a severe illness. He married Doris Singley on Feb 1, 1938 in Weiser, Idaho. They recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. His family consisted of two daughters and one son. He worked for Williams Grocery, Dairyman’s Creamery in Caldwell, Idaho Power, building substations, Dutch Mills Painting and Simplot’s. In the early 1960s, he started Haynes RCA TV Sales and Service on West Cleveland which he owned until his retirement. He was known throughout the valley as the go to TV serviceman. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Caldwell. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and spending time at their cabin at Cascade which he built, along with the help of his brother Virgil. He was a member of the Caldwell Ramblers good Sam RV group for years taking many wonderful trips with the group until poor health caused him to have to stop driving. He was awarded several trips and cruises from RCA for his TV sales. He is survived by his wife Doris, and two daughters, Bonnie (Joe) Eyre of Jerome, Donna Lopez, of Nampa and one son, Richard of McCall, and his brother, Virgil (Dot) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Chester is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren with another on the way, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and a son-in-law, Bill Lopez. The funeral will be held Friday, Feb 15, 2013 at Flahiff Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM in Caldwell with Pastor Jim Hardenbrook officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a donation for Alzheimer’s Research or to a charity of your choice. Service Information
