Chester Pitts, Jr., 77, went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2009 at Good Shepherd Hospice after an extended illness of respiratory failure. Mr. Pitts was born August 30, 1931 to Chester Arthur Pitts, Sr. & Sally LouVinia Horner Pitts in Norman Park, Georgia. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict. He had resided in Polk County since 2000 coming from Palm Beach and was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by 2 daughters: LouVinia Thurmond and her husband Chuck; Ramona Jean Harris all of Lakeland; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters. Private memorial services will be held at Florida National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
