Chi Fu
September 6th, 1926 - April 18th, 2018
Obituary Chi Fu died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 18, 2018, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Gina Fu and his two daughters, Betty and Pearl Fu. Born in China , he immigrated to the United States to pursue a master's degree at Oregon State University. He was a professor of Chinese Language at the Presidio of Monterey, Defense Language Institute. Known for his precise translation skills, he helped create Chinese names for many, including US Representatives Adam Schiff and Hilda Solis. An avid ping pong (table tennis) competitor, Chi won many regional tournaments in Monterey County. He also enjoyed tennis, juggling, Chinese opera and keeping up with current affairs. A memorial service for Chi is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 at the Sally Griffin Senior Center in Pacific Grove from 11-1 pm.
