Christina Lee (Anker) Hammond went to join the Lord on March 31, 2021. She was born to Harold and Edrey Anker on February 26th, 1956 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She was raised and schooled throughout the west coast and graduated from Bend High School in 1974. She then attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a degree in Sociocultural Anthropology in 1978. She worked at Ivy Highlift for 14 years where she met and married Duane Hammond on June 5th, 1988. Then gave birth to her son Zachary in 1989. In 1999 she became the computer and drama teacher at Eugene Christian School, eventually also becoming the History Teacher. She taught for 20 years until cancer forced her to retire in 2019. During her teaching career, she was also a dedicated Boy Scout Leader. As a Unit Commissioner at the Oregon Trail Council, she helped lead many boys to Eagle Scout. She was a truly amazing teacher and leader that touched so many lives. To the end, she kept strong in her Christian Faith. She is survived by her husband Duane, son Zachary, stepson Ryan, and brothers Edward and Andrew. Celebration of life will be held at 1st Baptist Church of Eugene, 3550 Fox Meadow Rd. Eugene, OR on April 10th at 2 pm. Please make any donations to “Love for Lane County” Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
