Christine Longhill Lyle

Christine Longhill Lyle aged 21+ of Cocoa Beach, Florida quietly passed away the morning of September 7, 2017. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am September 23, 2017 at Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach. Chris was born in Memphis, Tennessee to John Longhill and Angela Grenough Longhill on August 22, 1926. She was married to James Lyle in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from University of Tennessee and also attended the University of Colorado and the University of South Florida. Chris moved to Cocoa Beach in 1966 and she knew it would be where she would retire. Through her long life Chris was a model in New York City, an accomplished pilot, the first woman to be a member of the Kiwanis club, a Girl Scout leader, a school teacher, a swim instructor and a water safety instructor trainer. Chris has received numerous accolades over the years for her aquatic achievements to include the St. Cloud Pool is named after her. Her legacy of teaching people to swim and training lifeguards has ultimately saved hundreds of lives. She is preceded by her brothers John, Roland and Eric, her sister Doris Lichtenberger her beloved daughter Kristin. She is survived by her granddaughter Jesika, grandsons Gavin and Grayson, sons James, John, Peter and her sisters Margaret Longhill and Nikki Connors.
