Lexington, KY After an unfortunately short battle with cancer, Christine Totah Tawasha, 48, of Lexington, KY, passed away Tuesday, November 22nd. Christine was born May 20th, 1968 into a large Totah family, and is now with many of them her father Jalil, her birthmother Rose, and her sisters, Betsy and Rita, who also passed from cancer. She is survived by many, including her husband Nader Tawasha, her sons, Neemo, Nicholas, and Michael, her mother Aida Totah, her brother and sister, Yacoub Totah and Joyce Rafidi, and many cousins in the San Francisco bay area. She was surrounded by loved ones in her home when she passed, including those who were instrumental in caring for her and keeping her comfortable Therese Totah, Nunu Elias, Joanne Dabit-Shadeh, Nihal Totah, and the staff at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Christine had the utmost pride and joy for her family. She was able to see her eldest son, Neemo, graduate college and become president of sales at Sprint in Kentucky, Nicholas, get accepted to one of the most prestigious pharmacy schools in the nation and go on to simultaneously begin coursework for his MBA, and her youngest son, Michael, begin studies at the University of Kentucky pursuing a career in marketing. Her legacy will live vicariously through her sons accomplishments, as it was her love and guidance that steered them in the right direction, and will continue to help them achieve their goals. Christine liked things simple; being around the dinner table with her family or having her girlfriends over for a cup of coffee was all she needed to feel fulfilled. She loved to dance and sing, and could sometimes be found at a karaoke bar belting Shania Twains I Feel Like a Woman. Christine had a charming and fun-loving personality, but those werent the only reasons why she was loved by so many. She was an extremely kind, helpful, and generous person. She was never bothered when asked to be a volunteer or chaperon for whichever event her kids wanted to do, she wilfully obliged. She was never too busy to be a shoulder to cry on for a friend in need, she would drop anything to be there. She was always tolerant of pain, and wouldnt let you think otherwise. The last thing Christine would want is for us to be saddened by her passing. Instead, be reminded that your life is precious, that you should live it to the fullest. No matter how good or bad you think life is, wake up every day knowing that someone, somewhere, is fighting to survive, as she was in her final moments. Funeral Information There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 5-7 PM, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing, fopllowed by a Prayer Service at 7. Her wonderful joy, spirit, and talents will be celebrated at an 10:30 AM service on Saturday, November 26th at the St. Andrews Orthodox Church on Higbee Mill Rd. followed by a burial at 12 PM at Lexington Cemetery.
