                                             January 11, 1968 – July 21, 2024

                                                      Sacramento, California

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Christy da Silva, 56, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. Christy was the youngest of five children born to Frances (Dalton) and Clayton Kraft in Sacramento, CA. She graduated from Mesa Verde High School in Citrus Heights, where she grew up. After high school, Christy moved to the Bay Area to pursue her dream of caring for children. She became an outstanding nanny, helping to raise, nurture, and develop the social skills of several children. She was destined to be a mother. Christy had an incredible gift for connecting and interacting with children, often going out of her way to acknowledge a child in a crowd and make them feel special.

While working as a nanny, Christy met and married Luis da Silva, and they moved to Lafayette, CA. Among her proudest achievements were the births of her son, Ryder, and daughters, Margaux and Aurora da Silva. Christy was a devoted mother and homemaker who loved to entertain, often hosting neighbors and families from her children’s playgroups and schools for holiday and birthday parties. Their family home in Alamo was frequently filled with the laughter of friends, family, and the children's friends. Christy volunteered at every opportunity to support her children's school and extracurricular activities, making a significant impact on her community in Walnut Creek and Alamo, CA, through her contributions. She never missed a chance to cheer at her children's or nephew’s soccer, baseball, or volleyball games, swim meets, and cheerleading competitions.

Christy often reached out to children in her community who needed a supportive presence and did so throughout her life, starting when she was just eleven years old.

Christy loved to travel with family and friends whenever she could, she traveled up and down the west coast, Hawaii, Disney Cruises and many beautiful places around the world. Portugal held a special place in her heart. She fell in love with the country’s food, rich culture, warm people, beautiful architecture and landscapes. Through her marriage, she gained family in Portugal, and the country became a second home to her. Christy and her family made numerous trips there, creating countless cherished memories that she often recounted with joy.

She was also an avid snow skier who taught all three of her children to ski from a young age. Beyond the slopes, Christy’s bright, active presence extended into every corner of her life. Christy enjoyed rafting, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, roller-skating, and pickleball. She also knew her way around a toolbox, always ready to tackle any project with skill and confidence. She was incredibly krafty, able to fix almost anything, and was creative in so many ways—from sewing and creating her children's costumes, to landscaping, cooking, and entertaining, to tiling a bathroom.

Her family feels the profound loss of her vibrant presence, yet her memory will always be cherished.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son Ryder, daughters Margaux and Aurora da Silva, siblings Kevin (Stacie) Kraft, Carla (Michael) Hyduk, Craig (Katherine Hughes) Kraft, Rebecca Kraft, stepfather John Dyer, and several nephews and nieces.

Her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life is being planned in the near future to honor Christy’s life, which was cut far too short. Thank you for loving her.

Christy in Vegas, she had to go to the place that had endless mimosas for breakfast. Then later that day she wanted to take me to FLY OVER and I didn't want to go but we went anyway, one of the best experiences in my life. She was so much fun and a great friend.

I'll post more when I have more time. This was exactly 1 week before her passing. She was so much fun and a joy to be around and turned me on to so many new things. She wanted to go to Old Sac and we were on a rickshaw ride and the driver asked what music we wanted to here and Christy said Crazy Girlfriend and he turned around and looked at her and said, did I drive you before she said yes and started playing the song and Christy was singing along and she told him to take us to the Dive Bar to see the Mermaids. So he pulls up in front and there was a line of about 50 ppl waiting to get in and I said I'm not waiting in that line and she grabbed my hand and we ran in the front door and nobody stopped us. So I was taking a video of the place and she runs up and tells me to hurry up they only come out every 20 minutes. So we saw the Mermaids and the Rickshaw was waiting and I showed her this video and she said delete that right now, I sound bossy, I said, but I love it, she said delete it. So he ya go! You can see a Mermaid up in the top left.
