Claire Ann Lloyd
February 24th, 1956 - April 17th, 2020
Claire Ann Lloyd, 64, passed away April 17, 2020 in Olympia, Washington, her home of 25 years. She battled cancer for 15 years. Claire was born February 24, 1956, in Frankfort, Michigan. She married Henry Wesley Lloyd, Jr. on January 4, 1980, and they were madly in love for 40 beautiful years. Claire made magic happen, tears and pain disappear, and meals out of nothing, as a CEO of the household for the entire lifetime of her three children. She also was a legendary entrepreneur, supporting the family with numerous businesses of her own creation. Claire didn’t have hobbies; she was blessed with superpowers. She had beautiful visions of incredible things that would be a blessing to people, and she was given infinite talents to bring them to life. There are people all over the world who have been given memorable birth of grand babies, recovered from cancer, or supported their home teams with handcrafted works of art from Claire’s natural gifts. Claire defined strength and courage under fire. She was relentless in her faith in God Above, and would regularly speak about her undeniable faith that her perfect healing would come at any minute. She had a heart of pure solid gold, and gave generously without hesitation, always joyfully exclaiming, “I’m just trying to out give God!” She is survived by her husband, Henry Wesley Lloyd, Jr., who was her best friend, caregiver, love of her life, and the man created for her; daughter, Danielle Marie Lloyd Gunther, her firstborn, her guiding star, and her safe place to land in all things; daughter, Sarah Monique Lloyd, her baby girl, her supper helper and lifelong tag-along, and her fellow heart-on-sleeve sister girl; grandchildren, Alayliah Wezleigh Lloyd-Wilkins, Nyonna Claire Lloyd-Wilkins, and Brezlyn Alexandria Lloyd-Wilkins, three little birds who wouldn't be them without knowing her; brother, Charlie Thompson of Michigan; and sisters, Pam (Thompson) Ferguson of Minnesota, and Pat (Thompson) Ferguson of Florida. Claire was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Thompson, who taught her the value of forgiveness, even when it seems like it’s too late; her mother, June Thompson, who inspired her to be the incredible mother that she was to her children; son, Henry Wesley Lloyd III, who left the earth far too soon and is long overdue to have some with his momma. A Memorial Fund has been created to honor Claire’s memory and support other families who are in need of support while navigating the journey of a loved one with cancer. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made online to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance by clicking HERE, or by check payable to SCCA, mailed to PO Box 24385, Seattle, WA 98124-0385. Please indicate the donation is in memory of Claire Ann Lloyd. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left. Tribute to Claire Ann Lloyd by Sarah Monique On Friday, April 17, 2000, at 11:30 p.m., our momma (and my poppie’s wife of 40 years) took her last breath. She went to sleep peacefully, having lived a full life. She found the once-in-a-lifetime love that most of us dream of and they became a dream team. They built a God-centered, love-filled life, raised three incredible children, and faced challenges head on, TOGETHER. Momma - you are the epitome of fighter, grace under fire, and relentless faith. Every minute you had on this earth...thank God for each and every one. I'm glad you get to rest, Momma. For 15 years, you fought cancer, and you never gave up. You never quit, and you never became complacent. You refused to believe that healing wasn’t yours to claim. It was inspirational and powerful. Your fight was so incredibly valiant, and you did far more than any one person should have ever had to do. EVER. What’s more, you did that selflessly too, all so we could all have one more moment, one more pep talk, one more night not sleeping alone, one more hug, one more kiss, one more “YOU GOT THIS, SWEETIE!,” one more inside joke, one more look at us like we’re more than we ever saw in ourselves, one more investment in our dreams, one more horribly inappropriate April Fool’s joke, one more time of telling us we can do ANYTHING, one more phone call, one more episode of their FAVORITE show with nana, one more lunch date with my momma...JUST. ONE. MORE. Thank you, Momma. Thank you for hanging on so long. So tight. So strong. So well. SO FEARLESSLY. And so fixed on faith. You have given me the roadmap for my soul to follow for the rest of my days. May I one day become even just 3% of the incredible mother you have been to the three of us, to the three of them. I miss you momma, every second of the day. Though my heart longs to be with you so badly, my soul rests knowing that you no longer have to carry the pain of existing on this earth physically, or otherwise. I love you far more than there will ever be words to describe. You are my heart, and you became my very best friend. Rest in well-earned peace, sweet buttercup. Please squeeze Wesley extra tight for me. Love you forever, Momma. Always.
