Claire Lorraine Peck
October 30th, 1920 - August 5th, 2011
Obituary Claire Lorraine Peck, 90, of Richardson, TX, formerly of Fort Collins, died of natural causes on August 5, in Richardson, Texas where she had lived for the last 3 1/2 years. Claire was born October 30, 1920 in Bellwood, NE. She was valedictorian of her Bellwood High School class and graduated with honors from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE with a 2 year business degree in 1937. She married Alfred Donald (Don) Peck on January 24, 1942 in Plattsmouth, NE. She worked as a secretary at the State House of NE in Lincoln in the Emergency Medical Infant Care department. She also was an accounting clerk for Granger Food Products and Kraft Cheese in Omaha, NE. Following Don's three-year service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, they moved to Fort Collins in 1946, where Don practiced dentistry. During her time in Fort Collins, Claire founded and was the first secretary of the local Women's Dental Auxiliary, secretary for the PTA, a cub scout leader and brownie leader. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, St. Rita's Service Group and a volunteer for the Avery House Guild. Don and Claire loved to play bridge and were members of the As You Like It bridge group. They also loved to play golf and were members of the Fort Collins Country Club. . She is survived by a son, Thomas M. Peck of Surprise, AZ, although he is currently living in South Korea where he is a golf course designer and builder; a daughter, Karen M. Mohler of Sachse, TX; three grandchildren, Jim Cordova of Fort Collins, Deb Konopasek of Loveland and Nathan Dannels of Blythewood, SC; and eight great-grandchildren. Claire was preceded in death by her parents Joseph W. and Molly A. Kreizinger ; a brother Audrey J. Kreizinger; her husband, Don, and daughter, Paula. A memorial service will be held Tuesday May 8, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street, Fort Collins, Colorado at 10 A.M.. A commital service will follow at Grandview Cemetery. The Rev David Dalke will officiate. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in care of Vessey Funeral Service.
