Claire Elizabeth Struttmann

It is with great sadness that the Struttmann family announces the sudden loss of their beloved matriarch, Claire Elizabeth Struttmann. Claire passed on the morning of July 7th, 2021 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born Claire Elizabeth Birdsall to David and Virginie Birdsall in 1956 in Heidelberg Germany. A child to a military family, she called many places home in her formative years including Heidelberg, Barcelona, Minorca and various cities throughout the United States. She graduated from Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida in 1974 and later from the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 1979. She married James Douglas Struttmann in the Patrick Air Force Base Chapel on September 9, 1978 during her senior year in college. After graduation, they settled in Brevard County and have resided in Indialantic for over 40 years. Once all her children were in school, she worked as a Teacher’s Aid in the Brevard County School System until her retirement earlier this year. Claire is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Virginie Birdsall. She is survived by a sister, Luce Birdsall, her husband, James, three sons, Brian, Michael and Nathan and 9 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St Judes Children's Hospital Service information bellow. In honoring the life celebration of Claire, it is requested that those attending the service wear comfortable, casual clothing.
