Clara Evelyn Axtell of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully July 20, 2020 in Boise. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, on July 29, 2020, at Mountain View Cemetery, in Mountain Home. Family and friends welcome, masks and social distancing rules must be followed. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Evelyn was born in Murray, Kentucky on April 6, 1936, to Melvin and Alice Elkins. She grew up in Paris, Tennessee and was the only girl with six brothers. Evelyn was 16 when she met William “Willis” Axtell, who was a Paratrooper stationed at Fort Campbell Kentucky. She always said that he drove a long way to meet her. They were married in 1952 in Corinth, Mississippi. After Willis left the service, they moved to Mtn. Home in 1960. Evelyn worked for the Mountain Home School District in the lunchroom for 20 years. She enjoyed engaging with the younger generation and ended her career as Lunchroom Manager. Evelyn is survived by her three children Ricky (Rose) Axtell, Linda Johnston, and Debra (Steve) Stephanie all of Boise. She is survived by seven grandchildren, RJ (Andrea) Axtell, Cory (Desiree) Axtell, Blaire Johnston, Angelina (Matt) Schofield, Kylie (Josh) Reddick, Sean (Shalise) Johnston, Kayla (Beau) Backman, and 12 great grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by two brothers Danney Elkins, and Gary (Debbie) Elkins. Evelyn was the happiest when her family was around. Her grandchildren & great grandchildren made her smile. She enjoyed bowling, going to her cabin in Pine to be with family and friends, playing pinochle, darts and shuffleboard (She was the self-proclaimed Queen). She was a very social woman who loved to be out having a good time. Evelyn will be greatly missed. Donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2676 S. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
