Clara Belle Canfield
July 21st, 1913 - December 9th, 2011
Clara Belle Hallenbeck Canfield, 98, passed away Friday, December 9, 2011 peacefully at Littauer Hospital Nursing Home following a long illness. She was born July 21, 1913, the daughter of Albert J. and Luella Stoddard Hallenbeck in St. Johnsville, NY. Clara graduated from Gloversville High School, class of 1931 as well as the Gloversville Business School. She was predeceased by her husband Everett S. Canfield in 1978 after 43 years of loving marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents Albert and Luella Hallenbeck; brothers Albert J. Hallenbeck, Horace C. Hallenbeck Olive; grandson Mark Faville and nephew Albert G. Hallenbeck Joan. Clara is survived by: her children, Jacqueline L. Faville Bob of Melbourne, FL and Gary R. Canfield Liz of Gloversville as well as grandchildren Matthew Canfield of Troy, NY; Dana Stuart Rob of Ocala, FL; Hilde Burton Kevin of Catskill, NY; Everett "Cubby" Faville Mary Jo, Sherri Wilson Doug of Nashua, NY; Craig Faville of Melbourne, FL and Stacey Faville as well as nephews Donald Canfield Jane of Calabash, NC; Everett Hallenbeck Jean of Danville CA and Robert Hallenbeck of Gloversville. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Clara worked at Grandoe Gloves until her retirement in 1975 as a forelady in the fabric division. Devoted to her faith, she was a member in long and faithful standing of the North Main Street United Methodist Church of Gloversville. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place alongside her husband at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
