Clarabel ?Belle? Steven, 96 years old formerly of Tribes Hill, died Friday at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam where she had been a patient for over 3 years. Mrs. Steven was born August 10, 1909 in Amsterdam, the daughter of William and Clara Michaelson Stanley, and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. She resided in Tuscaloosa, Alabama most of her adult life, moving to Tribes Hill in 1992. Mrs. Steven was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Amsterdam and the Heralders Circle and Christian Service Group of the church. She enjoyed sewing, painting and playing bridge. On August 4, 1930, she married William Steven. He died March 14, 1991. Mrs. Steven is survived by 2 nieces; Dolores Jager of Amsterdam and Marilyn Boggie of Tribes Hill; 2 nephews Marlin Stanley of Amsterdam, and James Fraser of Lake George. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews, and by several great grand nieces and nephews. Mrs. Steven was predeceased by 2 sisters Elsie Jager and Margaret Spediacci; 1 brother Henry Stanley and her niece Carol Palmer. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Monday, November 28, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Elaine Berg officiating. There will be no calling period. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Organ Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Amsterdam.
