Clarence "Clem" Leon Gagne, 79, of Northville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born September 19, 1936 in Edinburgh, NY he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth Colson Gagne. Clarence knew the meaning of hard work, working as a logger as a young man. In 1958 Clarence started working for NA Taylor Company when they had just a small garage sized space. Over 40 years of dedicated service he moved his way up the company working in various positions such as a welder and designer, retiring in 1998 as a supervisor. After retirement Clem joined several bowling leagues in Gloversville. Clarence was an avid woodsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed volunteering in his community helping to build the Meco Softball Park. The family would always look forward to their camping trips and Sunday rides. Clarence enjoyed road trips to historical sites all across the United States with his companion MaryAnn. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Survivors include his five children David Gagne of DeLand, FL, Aaron Gagne (Tammy) of Meco, Brian Gagne (Amy) of Bleecker, Lisa Gagne (Mark Mickell) of Ballston Spa and Suzanne Ostrander (John) of Northville; his companion of 14 years MaryAnn Grega of Northville; brother William Gagne (Sally) of Northville; grandchildren Jackie DeZalia (Chad), Joshua Gagne, Duane Chamberlin (Amber), Thomas Gurga, Dana Gagne, Colleen Gagne, Cheyenne Lee, Elaina Mickell, Dylan Ostrander and Tyler Ostrander; great grandchildren Cameron Cahill, Gavyn DeZalia, Gavin Chamberlin, Mattie Chamberlin, Landon Ginter and Lexie Ginter; step-children Wayne Grega (Stephanie Ross) and Timothy Grega; step-grandchildren Andrew Ross, Ethan Ross, Adrienne Rizzio-Ginter, James Grega and Joseph Grega. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Clarence is predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth Fisher Gagne; son William Gagne; brothers Donald Barney and Charles Gagne, sisters Sadie Olmstead and Clara Capodiferro and step-daughter-in-law Tonye Grega. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 4 P.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Rev. Dr. RW Williams officiating. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place from 2 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Clarence's memory to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150 Chicago, IL 60601.
