C. Marlin Icenogle July 30, 1935 - October 20, 2023 Clarence Marlin Icenogle passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. He was 88 years old. Marlin was born in Marietta, Ohio in 1935 to Clarence and Mildred Icenogle. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1957, and would remain one of the most loyal lifelong fans to his beloved Buckeyes. Marlin married Nancy Marti in 1961, and together they raised three daughters. Dad served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. In 1964 he joined the J. M. Smucker Company. He was transferred to Oregon where he eventually became the head of Northwest Operations until his retirement. Dad was an exceptionally active man who enjoyed skiing into his 80's with Mom, his kids and his grandkids. He was an avid mountain climber with the Mazamas where he earned the Sixteen Peaks Award, led climbs and served as president. He rock climbed and hiked all over the Cascades. He simply loved sports. Mom and Dad's home in Sunriver, Ore., was his favorite haven where he skied in the winter, biked in the summer, and spent quality time with his family and friends. Marlin is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Lisa (Ron) Benoit, Jan (Dave) Halsey, and Julie (Chris) Hoem; grandchildren, Ryan (Jacki), Lauren (David), Lindsey, Katie, Nick, Jack, Zack, Jake, Abi, and Ava; and great-grandchildren, Coen, Cameron and Theo. A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 2, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Portland.
