Mr. Clarence “David” Wilkes, age 83 a resident of Lakeland passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Wilkes was born December 17, 1937 in Ft. Myers, Florida to Clarence and Mildred (Hart) Wilkes. He was a retired Truck Driver and a lifetime Polk County resident. David was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother – Richard Wilkes; sister – Martha Kate Wilkes and granddaughter – Kelly Lynn Wilkes. David is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 62 years – Jean Wilkes of Lakeland, FL.; 2 sons – David Wayne Wilkes of Lakeland, FL. and Carlos Michael Wilkes of Lakeland, FL.; daughter – Martha Kate (Charles) Beckum of Lakeland, FL.; 5 grandchildren – Mendy Kaye (Robert) Harrison of Pasco County, FL., Leslie (Luke) LeAnne Johnson of El Paso, TX., Michelle (Charlie) Redgrave of Lakeland, FL. and Jeffery Wilkes of Lakeland, FL.; 5 great grandchildren – Bryson David Clem, Bradley Michael Harrison, Lauren Johnson, Gabriel Johnson and Christopher Johnson and his fur babies – Bay Girl, Tiny, Tippy, Red & Candy. A funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 27th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Auburndale Memorial Park.
