Clement D. Di Loreto
October 24th, 1931 - February 24th, 2024
Clement D. Di Loreto, a respected resident of Indialantic, FL, passed away on February 24, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on October 24, 1931, in Madison, WI, Clement was the youngest of four children born to Clemente Di Loreto and Angeline (Abbonizio) Di Loreto. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954 and earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Clement furthered his education with graduate degrees from Purdue University and Florida State University. Clement's career as an operations executive in the U.S. Manned Space Program and defense industry showcased his dedication and expertise in developing crucial telecommunication capabilities. Throughout his service, he played a pivotal role in the development of telecommunication systems for transmitting and receiving data, voice communication, and video feeds between astronauts and mission control. His work contributed to maintaining real-time communication, monitoring mission progress, and ensuring the safety of astronauts in missions such as Apollo, SkyLab, and the Space Shuttle programs. His significant contributions earned him recognition and gratitude within the space program. Outside of his professional accomplishments, Clement was an active and devoted parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church for nearly 60 years. He served as the parish council president and actively supported philanthropic activities. A lifelong learner with a profound curiosity for past, current, and future events, Clement spent his retirement traveling extensively and conducting research on emerging trends in science and technology. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge with friends and colleagues, encouraging them to use it to invest in capital markets. Moreover, Clement cherished his role as a teacher, editor, and coach to his children and grandchildren, imparting knowledge, and wisdom to the next generations. Clement was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dora (Oltremari) Di Loreto, and a grandson, David Clement Richard Di Loreto. He is survived by his children: David Di Loreto, MD (Susan), Teresa McNeight (Richard), Andrew Di Loreto (Lee Ann), and Edward Di Loreto (Kathy). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial to honor Clement's life will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Friday, March 15 with Visitation at 10:15 am followed by Mass at 10:45 am. A burial will be immediately following at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Name of Jesus Educational Endowment.
