Clifford J. Lloyd
March 27th, 1931 - March 28th, 2014
VIERA,FL. Clifford John Lloyd (Clif) passed away March 28, 2014 at age 83. He was born in North Tonawanda, New York to the late Clifford Preston and Winifred Jeeves Lloyd. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Lloyd (nee Metzger, Nachreiner) to whom he was married for 59 years; two sons, David Clifford Lloyd (Hazel) of Colonie, NY and Douglas Preston Lloyd (Gillian Via) of Albany, NY; and one daughter, Diane Elizabeth Lloyd of Brooklyn Heights, NY. He is also survived by three grandchildren, James MacDonald, Robert and Thomas Lloyd and cousins, nieces, nephews and so many dear friends. After graduating from North Tonawanda H.S., he worked as a boilermaker while also serving in the US Naval Reserve. Shortly after his marriage in 1954, he was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea. Upon his return, he attended Erie County Technical Institute (AA) and the State University of Buffalo (BA). While teaching Industrial Arts at Brighton (Rochester) Jr High, he received an MA.. Clif, his wife and two young children spent two years in Columbia, MO where he received a Doctorate in Education (EdD), and also taught undergraduate Engineering Graphics. Moving back to NY, he became principal and supervisor of the construction of the new junior high school. For sixteen years his responsibilities included supervising the integration of NY State Industrial Arts Education programs. He contributed to the passage of the Eye Safety Law for NYS. This was followed by three years with The Bureau of Economic Development serving as liaison between the NY State Education Department and the Regional Centers for Economic Development. Over the years, he established two successful businesses including the Computer Image, a mail order and consulting marketing firm, and Superior Insulation Systems, a residential and commercial insulation company. In his early days, Clif played the Wurlitzer organ at the local roller rink and movie theater in North Tonawanda. He continued to play the piano and clavinova throughout his life. He also enjoyed boating, spending time in his workshop and vacationing in the family's travel trailer/RV for 13 years. His final year was spent at Palm Cottages in Rockledge, Fl, where he received loving care during the last stages of his illness. His winning smile, good nature and knack of telling jokes will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 5th at the Viera Faith Lutheran Church, 5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge, FL ( north side of Viera Blvd between US1 and Murrell Road in East Viera) If you wish, you may send a contribution in his memory to Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation, 4676 N.
