Cloice Leslie Hall
February 18th, 1923 - June 27th, 2012
Cloice was born in Battle Ground, WA, the son of the late Charles “Les” and Edith Bagby Hall. He moved to Vernonia with his family when he was a boy, where he was raised and received his education. Cloice was a graduate of Vernonia High School class of 1942, where he was a standout in football and track. Shortly after graduating high school, Cloice joined the Merchant Marines and served as an officer in World War II and the Korean War. In the years following, Cloice was an entrepreneur, starting a logging business; working as a log truck driver; owning and operating a long distance trucking business; as well as starting and operating a successful excavation business. Cloice was united in marriage to Lynne on September 9, 1980. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Vancouver, WA community until his retirement. Following their retirement, they moved to New Orleans area, where they lived for fifteen years. In 2009, they moved back to Portland, where they have resided since. Cloice was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Among his special interests, Cloice enjoyed race car driving, riding motorcycles, golfing, scuba diving, flying his airplane, racing his snow mobile, traveling, and much, much more. He also enjoyed boating had been a member of the Portland Yacht Club. Survivors include his wife, Lynne; daughter Allyson (Keith Cameron); sons, Alan (Idamay) and Curt (Susie); stepchildren, Sean Murphy (Peggy) and Deirdre Murphy; grandsons, Sean and Ryan; step granddaughter, Sarah; great grandchildren, Audriana and Kase; and, his beloved quadruped, Barnaby. A graveside service will be held on July 12th 1:00 PM at Willamette National Cemetery, with a reception immediately following at Avamere Crestview Nursing Home 6530 Southwest 30th Avenue Portland, OR. The family encourages donations to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312, Donations may also be made online.
