Cloyd M. Carpenter passed away on August 10, 2016 in Gilbert, Arizona, at the age of 81. Cloyd was born on January 17, 1935 in San Jose, Arizona, to James Monroe and Thelma Curtis Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veda Mae, his three siblings, Leona Udall, Gordon Carpenter, and Jerald Carpenter, and his parents. He grew up in Thatcher, Arizona and graduated from Thatcher High School. He received his bachelor"s degree from the University of Arizona. Cloyd served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States. In 1958, he married his sweetheart Veda Mae Anderson and they were blessed to have six children: Debra, Dale (Carol), Darin (Patti), Denise Shiflet (David), Dorothy Perry (Duane), and Dana Owens (Shawn). Cloyd worked as a farmer in the Gila Valley for most of his life before moving to Gilbert in 1992. He also served in many positions in the church. Cloyd and Veda Mae have 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
