From Wayne, W.Va.

From Wayne, W.Va. To Coach Ketchum's family, I was born well after Coach Ketchum left Wayne, but his passing has affected our community. Wayne High School held a moment of silence in honor of Coach Ketchum's memory prior to Friday night's home game. We asked that anyone who had played a sport for Coach Ketchum to stand before we did the moment of silence. You would be surprised how many people stood up. He left Wayne more than 45 years ago, but Wayne never forgot Coach Ketchum. Prayers and blessings to his family and loved ones.

Michael Folger

Michael Folger Coach was a role model for me. He was made to be a dean. Although I felt the sting of the paddle only once, he offered me advice and guidance many more times than that. I have told many stories of him and coach Bingham. I know that I am only one of many that his life made a difference on. He truly was represented what was best in education and in life. My God take you and keep you in his arms.

Bill England

Bill England Coach was a dear friend, fellow Dean and co-worker to my own mother, June England. She always held him in the highest esteem and with good reason. Fond memories came flooding back to me from my early childhood and parts of my adolescence when I heard of his passing. I specifically recall going with my parents when I was really young to visit Coach and his family in Port St. John on certain Saturdays. As the grown-ups jabbered away, I'd hang out with my buddy Franky. Literally and figuratively, Coach was a giant of a man. He seemed to always have a twinkle in his eye, a warm soul and a big, hearty laugh. Brevard County schools, but more specifically Madison's and Astronaut's faculty and students are quite fortunate to have had this man be a part of all our lives. I imagine it's possible, and maybe even probable, that he and my mom are roaming the halls upstairs somewhere, once again keeping everyone in line . My humblest condolences go out to Mike, Kathy, Jamie and especially my little buddy from childhood, Franky. Sincerely, Bill England
