Col. Harold Dean Robinson
September 3rd, 1929 - December 4th, 2021
Colonel Harold Dean Robinson USAF, D.D. S. Colonel Harold Dean Robinson, USAF Retired, D.D.S., 92 years old, passed away on December 4, 2021 after a long illness. He was born in Commerce, Oklahoma to father William C. Robinson and mother Ruby B. Dawson on September 3, 1929. He was the youngest of 3 children. He was raised in Loudonville, Ohio where he excelled in football and basketball while in high school. After graduation, he joined the Navy and served as a medical technician in Bethesda, Maryland during the Korean War. After he left the Navy, he graduated from Ohio University, then Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He joined the U.S. Air Force as a dentist and served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. After his return to the United States, he opened a private dental practice in Aurora, Colorado and retired from the practice after 25 years in business. He remained in the U.S. Air Force as a reservist and was assigned to take care of the U. S. Air Force Academy cadets for their dental needs in Colorado Springs. He was also appointed by then Senator Bill Armstrong to sit on future academy cadet’s selection board. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Aurora and the Smoky Hill Rotary Club. Colonel Robinson was a flying enthusiast and earned a private, as well as commercial, license to fulfill his childhood dreams. He joined the Experimental Aircraft Association and Flying Dentists Association. He built his own aircraft, an RV-6A which took him 3 ½ years of hard work. The plane was his pride and joy and the biggest personal accomplishment of his lifetime. He loved his family and dog, Gracie deeply. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Hiroko Anne of 52 years, 2 sons-Brad (Ann), Brian (Tracy) and daughter, Michelle (Ryan) and 3 grandchildren-Sean, Katie and Ellie. He was a great husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly. He lived his life to the fullest. Service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery to be announced at a later date.
