Colleen Robertson

Colleen R. Robertson, long time resident of Lili Valley in West Point, CA, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Stockton, CA at the age of 83. She was born September 1, 1927 to Robert and Pearl (Fenton) Ritchie in Stigler, OK. After 27 years she has gone on to meet her sweetheart, Robert "Bobby" Robertson who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her eight children: Dennis Harrison of Rogers, Arkansas, Jerry & Kathy Harrison of Pinole, CA, Kathy & Garry Long of West Point, CA, Bill & Kim Harrison of Cedartown, GA, Charles & Nancy Haig of Lafayette, CA, Larry Mundell of Idaho, Nancy & Jim Waitley of Lodi, CA and Luanne & Jason Burkland of Galt, CA. She was called "Granny" by all. She has 21 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter that live from California to Massachusetts. She has many nieces and nephews who loved her. She has two very close friends of over 40 years; Loretta McCall of Paso Robles, CA and Alberta Thompson of Stockton, CA. They know ALL….but won't tell all. She graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, CA in 1945. She was awarded a scholarship to Gregg College in Chicago. She received a certificate for Court Reporting with a shorthand record of 160 wpm. She went to work for Avon Oil Refinery in San Francisco as a Secretary making $120 per month. She worked for the Mosquito Abatement District in Concord for many years. Later she worked for and retired from the Department of Emergency Services in Stockton, CA where she worked at Rancho Seco. In her later years, she volunteered for the West Point Fire Department, Hospice of Amador County in Jackson, CA, and the Calaveras County Library in West Point, CA and was a 13 year board member of the Lili Valley Water District. She was an avid San Francisco Giants and Oakland Raider fan. She loved to play cards, loved to dance, and listening to her favorite jazz and big band music. She will be remembered for her competitive nature, sassy personality and her fudge at Christmas. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Friday, January 14 at 1:00 P.M. at Church of the Living Word, 23717 Highway 26 in West Point, CA. 95255. Inurnment will be in the West Point Cemetery in West Point, CA at 11:30 A.M.
