Colleen Weavill Colleen Marcella Edison-Weavill December 4, 1942-January 27, 2017 Colleen passed away in Eugene, Oregon on January 27, 2017 at the age of 74. She was born in Farmington Minnesota on December 4, 1942 to Marcellus and Hazel Edison. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Marcia Dawn, Yvonne Rose, and Cherie Elaine. She was married on December 29, 1957 to Irvin Lee Weavill. He passed away in 1977. She lived most of her life in Oregon and had resided in the Eugene area for 37 years. Colleen was the mother of eleven children. Eight of those children were born at home with the support of her husband, Irvin. Kevin Lee Weavill, (preceded in death); Lori Dawn Weavill, Kimberly Hope Williams-Wright, Chandra Kerrie Coleman, Kamala (Kami) Lynn McKeon, Todd Eric Weavill, (preceded in death); Andrea (Annie) Lisa Duke; Chad Jeffery Weavill-Edison, Jill Nichole Hastings, Stephen Michael Weavill, and Jon Derick Davila. Colleen had many talents and abilities throughout her life. Besides being a mother, she won blue ribbons at the Oregon State Fair for her baking, and was showcased in an article in the Capitol Journal Newspaper one year in the early 70’s. She also operated a floral business, Marion Oaks Floral, creating beautiful bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres for weddings, graduations, etc. She worked as a CNA for several years in the emergency room, obstetrics, and other wings of the hospital. She also worked for a short time at Fairview and Haven Acres, both in Salem. She was a chair person for The American Cancer Society in the late 70’s and was instrumental in the planning and organizing of several fundraisers in the Salem, Oregon Chapter. For a few years, she was employed as a homecare worker, caring for individuals with physical disabilities in their homes. Colleen was also a talented home decorator, artist, and pianist. She could play classical and other types of music fluently on her baby grand piano. She also played the clarinet. She had an appreciation and love for all types of music, something she passed on to her many children. She also had a beautiful singing voice. She loved animals and would always have a small dog as a pet throughout her life. She considered herself a tom boy and country girl at heart. The mountains held a special place for her because she grew up in the Gates, Oregon area during her younger years when her father was a brick layer working on the Detroit and other Dams. Colleen loved people and could make friends with anyone. When she was a resident at River Park, she was a favorite by many CNA’s and nurses because she was always smiling and giggling. Colleen leaves a legacy of many descendants. Between the many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild, step grandchildren, adopted grandchildren, and foster grandchildren, there are 114, give or take a dozen. When her own children were young, her house was known as the Kool-Aid house because all the neighborhood kids would come there to play. We, her family, loved her very much and are looking forward to the joyful family reunion we will all share one day. We would like to thank everyone who has offered condolences and well wishes during this emotional time.
