Conrad Evan Quale

March 10th, 1934 - May 27th, 2017

On May 27, 2017, Conrad Evan Quale took his final breath and passed peacefully from this life to the next surrounded by his family. Conrad was born on March 10, 1934 in Carlyle, MT. He was the third of ten children born to Clifford Quale Sr. and Dolores (Bair) Quale. His early years were spent growing up in farming communities in Montana. Conrad served in the United States Army 1954-1956 in Germany during the Korean war as a Light Vehicle Driver. He was Honorably Discharged of his military duties in 1962. Con was awarded an Army of Occupation Metal for his time spent in Germany as well as a Good Conduct Metal-Sharpshooter M-1. In 1957, Conrad married Betty Lou Smith in a ceremony held at the First Baptist Church in Sidney, MT. This year, Con and Betty celebrated 60 years of marriage! Together, they had five children: Donna (Ray-deceased) Gouwens of Caldwell, ID; Dale (Yvette) Quale of Waldport, OR; Karen Quale of Brigham City, UT; Carol Quale of Tigard, OR,; and Kimberly (Michael) Krikorian of Portland, OR; 9 grandchildren: Don, Eric, Nora, Dustin, Shadow, Zachery, Alyssa, Tony and Jonah, and 21 great-grandchildren. After the military, Con worked in several grain elevators in MT as well as doing some seismography. In 1960, the family moved to Brigham City, UT and Con began working at Thiokol Corporation. In 1972, he attended Stevens- Henager College of Business and graduated with a degree in accounting. He then worked as an accountant at Morton-Thiokol, until retiring in 1986. Con often referred to himself as a "bean counter" due to his love of numbers, finance and business. Conrad enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, family road trips from Utah to Montana for family reunions, spending time with his family, gardening and "puttering" with anything and everything whenever he could. He had a deep love for God and was active in churches where he lived. Con was willing to serve in any capacity he could at church, and even helped build and start churches. Con was a kind and generous man who always had time to chat, offer a helping hand and never asking for anything in return. His honesty and integrity was evident in the way he conducted his life day to day. Conrad was proceeded in death by his parents, Clifford Sr. and Dolores, his brothers Don and Irvin, and his sisters Edna and Lila. Conrad is survived by his wife; all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings: Arnold (Elaine) Quale of Minneapolis, MN; Dave (Marion) Quale of Beach, ND; Norman Quale of Sun City AZ; Kenny (Myrna) Quale of Glendive, MT and Clifford Jr. (Suzanne) Quale of Missoula, MT. Conrad lived his life well, he was humble, wore his heart on his sleeve, laughed with all of his being, loved God, loved his country and loved his family with all of his heart. He loved a good clean joke (even if it was a little corny) and loved spending time with those he loved. When he saw a need, he filled it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Conrad will be laid to rest in Wibaux, Montana on Saturday, June 24th. A private graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. for Conrad’s family. All are welcome to join to celebrate Conrad’s life at Wibaux Bible Church (101 Wibaux St. N., Wibaux, Montana) from 12:00-3:00 P.M.
