Constance Marie Clarke
June 7th, 1950 - July 9th, 2024
Constance Marie Taylor Clarke, age 74 was the devoted wife of 51 years to Renaldo Clarke Sr., and the devoted mother of sons Steven Michael, Renaldo Antonio Jr., and beloved daughter Keisha Le’ Ann who was sadly taken from us September 26th, 2014… Connie, born June 7th, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana was the daughter of Shirley Mae Wiltz Taylor and James Lee Taylor Jr. Constance was called back on July 9th, 2024 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Constance was a talented and creative homemaker, descended from generations of skilled and talented tailors. She continued that tradition. Her special accomplishments in recent years were the creation of two breathtaking wedding dresses for her sister Sheila and niece Asia.
Amongst the duties of managing and keeping a spotless and safe household, Constance enjoyed her garden and gardening in general. She became an avid pineapple grower, displaying her prowess in all horticultural things.
In 1984 Constance pristinely restored from top to bottom a large brick Tudor revival house in Far Rockaway, Queens, NYC, which became her pride and joy. She loved baroque furniture and finished the house with pastels, which made the house warm and welcoming. She painted the master bedroom lavender, the hallways were sky blue, the kitchen was lemon yellow while the baroque living room was a dusty pink. The house was a spectacular insight into our mother’s never-ending cheerfulness.
For almost 17 years Constance and husband Rey created the popular beach refreshments spot called Happy Duck in Far Rockaway, visited by tourists, locals and people far and wide. Constance’s warm and inviting smile kept visitors coming back for her family style creations.
Constance Marie is predeceased by her parents; James Lee Jr., and Shirley Mae; her brothers; James Lee III, and Byron Leslie, nephew Kenneth Dean Jr.; and beloved daughter Keisha Le’ Ann.
She is survived by her husband Renaldo; beloved sons; Steven (Azalea) and Rey (John); grandsons Lou Diamonds Clarke, Colby Clarke, Isaiah Clarke.
She is also survived by her loving sisters and brothers; Karen Sawney (Gordon), Sheila Molezion (Rory), Charles Anthony Taylor, Eric Jerome Taylor (Darlene), and Kenneth Dean Taylor (Diane).
Most importantly, our life was guided by her deep devotion to the scripture, and psalms of King David that we were all able to share in due to her tireless daily ministry sharing these bits of wisdom with all through our phones. They will be missed.
