Melbourne, Florida Cornelius Raymond Gallagher, CMDR, USN Ret., 89, passed away on June 5, 2013. He was born on October 7, 1923 in Woodhaven, NY to Michael and Delia Gallagher. CMDR Gallagher was a highly decorated WWII Fighter Pilot who also served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is survived by his five children; Delia Dill (David), Neil Gallagher, Karen Nierenberg, Mark Gallagher (Lisa), and Megan Knoblock (Jamie), 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Cornelius was predeceased by his loving wife, Cathleen in 2011. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 12 -1pm at Beach Funeral Homes - West, Melbourne/Suntree. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm on Tuesday, June 11 at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL. Burial will immediately follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, FL with military honors.
