Crystal Andrea English

Crystal Andrea English passed away peacefully in her sleep at Emanuel Hospital on December 30, 2016. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 9th at 11 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located at 3131 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon 97232. The interment will be held at 2pm on Monday at Willamette National Cemetery located at 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086. Crystal was born on April 11, 1931 in Portland, Oregon to Andros and Anthoula Monstis. She was an active member in the Greek Orthodox Church throughout her life. She graduated from Washington High School and attended Oregon State Health Sciences University to pursue a degree in nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and went to work immediately as a Registered Nurse. She married Robert English in 1957 and they remained together until Roberts’ death in 2006. Crystal and Robert moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1958 where she became a head nurse at the local hospital. Crystal and Robert moved back to Portland in 1963. She took a break from nursing to raise a family. She and Robert moved to Lake Oswego in 1972 where they resided for 35 years. In 1971, Crystal returned to Nursing and worked in several area hospitals including, Providence Medical Center, OSHU and Meridian Park Hospital until she retired in 1984. She was an active member of the OSHU Alumni and the Oregon Nursing Association. She and Robert enjoyed traveling to many destinations such as Cancun, Hawaii and Guam. Crystal and Robert great love in life was watching their grandchildren grow up. Crystal is survived by her daughter, LeAnthea Kalinoski and her two grandchildren, Desiree’ and Miles McLarney. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund. Coffee and refreshments will be served following services in the church.
