My Life Story Curtis Earl Hawkins was born June 1, 1935 in Montrose County, Colorado to Harlan and Gladys Smith Hawkins, and passed away on May 13, 2016 at home in Caldwell, Idaho. Curt spent part of his childhood in Colorado, later moving to Kuna, Idaho with his mother and siblings. He graduated from Kuna High School in 1954 and from Northwest Nazarene University in 1959. After college he spent an additional two years at a trade school to obtain a mechanic's license so he could work on aircraft engines. In 1963 Curt moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where he worked for Wein Airbush Airlines for five years. He spent one summer in Kotzebue, Alaska flying the bush and working on airplanes. In 1966 he was hired by Braniff Airlines as a pilot where he eventually flew the Convair 440, Lockheed Electra BAC 1-11, Boeing 707, Boeing 727, Douglas DC8 and Boeing 747. He retired from the Braniff Airlines and took up ranching for 15 years south of Cascade, Idaho. In 1998 he was hired by the Christian Coalition as state field director. In 2000 he was hired by the City of Caldwell as airport manager where he worked for 10 years; during his tenure, the Caldwell airport doubled in size. He was president of the Idaho Airport Manager's Association for four years, with oversight of all airport managers in the State of Idaho. In 2006 he joined the Gideon's, and spoke in many churches raising awareness for the need for Bibles in hotels, motels and third-world countries. Curt enjoyed hosting monthly one-hour concerts at the Melba and Homedale Senior Centers. Curt is survived by his six children, Nathan Husby, Rose and Dan Swinyar, Martha and Jim Puett, Aurora and Greg Hafer, Curt and Cristina Hawkins, and Carrie and John Alexander; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. No one had more fun in life than Curt; he had so much to be thankful for and never took it for granted. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Liz and Emily, dedicated health care providers, who made our father's life more comfortable during his last year. A special thank you also to Tyler, Jody and Laurie from Heart and Home Hospice for the compassionate care provided. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2:00 pm at Valley Church, 2900 Life Way, Caldwell. Burial immediately following at Owyhee Cemetery, Nyssa, Oregon. We Entrusted Curtis Hawkins's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
