Curtis Vance Jr, 76, of Melbourne, Fl, formerly of St. Petersburg, Fl and Pleasant Hill, Oh, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, after a long illness. Curtis (known to family and friends as Jr) was a 1955 graduate of Tippecanoe High School, Tipp City, Oh. Jr was a veteran of the US Navy and Air National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6557 and a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of God in Pleasant Hill, Oh. Jr loved nature and had a passion for repairing bicycles to give away to local kids. He was described as a fun, loving, caring, giving man having as much strength as God could give a man. He was a blessing to all who knew him and we will miss that twinkle in his eye. Preceded in death by parents, Curtis & Lyda (Penny) Vance and brothers, Carl, John & Don Vance. Jr is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Vance; four daughters, Barbara Burner (husband Bruce) of Merritt Island, FL; Mona Cullars (husband Pat) of Pleasant Hill, Oh; Lori Lyttle (fiancé David Lawless) of Suffolk, Va; Jenifer Quillen (husband Marty) of Troy, Oh; and by his son, Curtis Vance III (wife Emily) of Troy, Oh. Jr is also survived by his sisters, Pauline Barefoot, Dorothy Rhoades, Mary Swadner & Pat North, and brothers, Earl (Bud) Vance, Bob Vance, Vic Vance & Dean Vance. He had 14 grandchildren, Misty Bronstein, Julie Taubman, Tiffany Quillen, Jennifer Burner, Todd Burner, Andy Cullars, Amy Cullars, Danielle Lyttle, Bethany Vance, Cheyenne Quillen, Joey Lyttle, Elena Vance, Teague Quillen & David Vance and 3 great grandchildren, Sam Taubman, Mathew Taubman and Kai Rose. Arrangements are with Beach Funeral Home in Melbourne, Fl. Information, photos and condolences can be found on their website, www.beachfuneralhome.com (select Curtis Vance). A private viewing was held on June 7th. His burial will be held on June 17th at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. A memorial service will be held at a later time at the Pleasant Hill Church of God in Pleasant Hill, Oh.
