Cynthia Kay Atkinson, 57, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 after a courageous battle, surrounded by family. She was born on September 14, 1961 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was a 1979 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where she was a member of the PHS Red Wing Drill Team. Cynthia moved to Summerville, South Carolina in 1988. She loved her family, Pearl (her maltipoo), the beach, and all things West Virginia. She is survived by her parents: Keith and Phyllis Atkinson, her sons: Christopher Matthew Wegmann (Jessica Tomlinson Wegmann), Gregory Adam Wegmann (Megan Phillips Wegmann), Jared Patrick Wegmann, and Tyler Keith Wegmann. Her surviving siblings are: Diane Atkinson Okraska (Brian Daniel Okraska) and Kimberly Atkinson Griffey (Chester O’Neal Griffey). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, Spell Chapel in Summerville, SC at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2018. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Katie’s Krops at P.O. Box 1841, Summerville, SC 29484, The Village At Summerville (Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina) at 201 W 9th N St, Summerville, SC 29483, and Bethany United Methodist Church at 118 W 3rd S St, Summerville, SC 29483.
