Cindy Hanson died peacefully at home on April 14, 2023, in Lynnwood, WA, with her canine companion, Domino, at her side. Cindy was born in Fort Collins, Colorado. She spent most of her grade school and high school years in Roy, Utah. Cindy graduated from Roy High School in 1970. She continued her studies at the University of Utah, graduating with a Business/Secretarial Degree. Cindy moved to Washington State in 1974 and started her career with the State of Washington as a secretary for the Liquor Control Board. She retired from the Department of Labor & Industries, where she worked as an Investigator on a wide range of issues. As a young person, Cindy enjoyed family camping trips to national parks, games (Clue, Monopoly and a variety of card games). She learned to ski in college and worked at Yellowstone National Park for two summers. As an adult, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, and reading thrillers and mysteries. She recently was learning how to knit. Cindy and her husband, Lowell, often hosted family gatherings at their home. They traveled with friends in WA and had a memorable trip to Spain. Cindy enjoyed trying new recipes. She was always trying to perfect the chocolate chip cookie. Cindy traveled often to Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. She took a special Rick Steves trip to Europe with her mother, Marge, after her retirement. Cindy is survived by her stepchildren, Kim (Tony) Vranich and Jeff (Danelle) Hanson and siblings, Dave (Cynthia) Nowowiejski, Kathy (Don) Gertson, and John (Sondra) Nowowiejski. Cindy was a proud aunt to Bob Gertson and Jennifer Nowowiejski Presley, and grandmother to Beau Hanson. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred (Al) and Marjorie (Marge) Nowowiejski, and her husband, Lowell Hanson. A family gathering and Celebration of Cindy Hanson’s life will be held at Columbine Lake in Colorado later this year. Remember Cindy with joy by performing a Random Act of Kindness or donating to a favorite charity benefitting animals or children.
