Cynthia Moorer Murphy
August 23rd, 1936 - July 29th, 2021
Cynthia Moorer Murphy, 84, entered into eternal rest on July 29, 2021, at National Health Care Center, West Columbia, SC. Born on August 23, 1936 in Sandy Run, SC, she was the daughter of the late Montague F. and Carrie R. Moorer. Cynthia graduated from St. Matthews High School in Calhoun County, and retired from the South Carolina Highway Department. We will miss her love of family, wonderful sense of humor, and her determination to never give up and to keep moving forward. She is survived by her son, Ricky Murphy (Rhonda); and her grandchildren, Morgan and Andrew Murphy. She is also survived by her siblings: Margaret Ellis, Caroline Gaskin, Shelby Lockman, Beulah Hanson (Carl), Leola Burch (Woody), Bobby Moorer, Paullette Moorer, Harriette Holsinger, Joyce Sawyer, Raymond Moorer, and Walter Moorer (Theresa); and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dennis James Murphy. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 1:00-1:45pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Woodridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers are: Robert Ellis, Grady Merritt, Darrell Moorer, Drew Murphy, Justin Holder and Dustin Chaney. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at National Health Care and Wellmore, as well as the doctors and nurses at Lexington Medical Center for the care provided our beloved Cynthia during the past months.
