Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Cynthia Louise Rogers
August 17th, 1955 - February 3rd, 2023
Cynthia Louise Rogers was born on August 17, 1955, in Shelton, Washington, to Evelyn and Emmett Laney, and passed away on February 3, 2023, in Tacoma, Washington. She had a bartending career that spanned 34 years. She tended bar at the Town Tavern, the Brotherhood, and spent the majority of her career at Bob’s Tavern in Shelton. Cindi loved making people laugh and, as a long-time bartender, she had an unlimited supply of dirty jokes and wasn’t afraid to use them. Cindi was an avid social butterfly, making friends everywhere she went. During her extensive battle with congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, she met and befriended hundreds of doctors, nurses, med techs, and other staff. She tried her hardest to remember everyone's names, but if she couldn't, she’d ask them for their favorite drink and she’d remember them that way. She loved gardening, making friends with dogs, especially Goldens, listening to her record collection, cooking for people, organizing social gatherings with friends, and of course, hosting happy hour. When she was feeling well enough, you could find her in the community room, playing solitaire, listening to music, and maybe even sneaking a beer. She is survived by her daughter, Rachael Headley Wagoner; son-in-law, James; grandson, Caleb; as well as siblings, Karen Bjork (Ray) and Jerry (Jan) Westlund; beloved nieces and nephews, special cousins, and several life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her long-time partner, Marty Orth; and brother, Mickey Westlund; and her beloved Golden Retriever, Star, whom she loved more than anything. Plans for a celebration of life will be announced later in the spring. To honor Cindi, we suggest donating to a local animal shelter or giving your favorite bartender an extra-large tip. Cheers. Please leave condolences or share memories and photos on the Tribute Wall to the left.
