D. Joseph Williams
October 25th, 1928 - January 3rd, 2014
85, of Tampa, Florida, died Friday, January 3, 2014. Dr. Williams, the son of Joseph R. Williams and Gladys E. Williams, was born in South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from the University of Vermont, served in the United States Army, attended the University of Louisville College of Medicine, and completed a residency in General Surgery there as well. He practiced for a brief time at the Colorado State Prison in Canon City, Colorado before moving to Pueblo in 1963 to establish his private practice. Dr. Williams practiced primarily at St. Mary Corwin Hospital, but also served as Chief of Staff at Parkview Hospital. He was a member of the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Williams of Tampa, Florida, brother Dr. Robert M. Williams (Patricia) of Edgefield, S.C., son Robert B Williams (Monica) of Gillette, Wyoming, daughter Dr. Susan Schiff (Scott) of Pueblo, Co., son Dr. Russell J. Williams (Cindy) of Columbia, S.C. Stepdaughters Katie Hulse (Alan) of Sebastian, Fl., Dr. Anne Gargasz (Scott) of Tampa, Fl., and Stepson David Beauchamp, III of Jersey City, N.J., grandsons Adam Schiff, Jay and Kenneth Hulse, granddaughters Katie Schiff, Rachel and Morgan Williams, Elle and Lily Gargasz, and two nephews, David R. Williams (Beth) of Independence, MO., and Michael H. Williams (Sheree) of Belleville, Illinois. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tampa, Florida. Father Zachary Elliott, O.F.M. will officiate. Burial will follow at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida.
