Daisy Old Baily
August 14th, 1944 - August 16th, 2017
Daisy Old Baily died in her home the morning of August 16, 2017 with her family and caregiver by her side. Daisy will be remembered as an authentic, strong, loving person and a true Christian. She has gone to be with her Lord. There will be no services per her wishes. Daisy was born August 14, 1944 in Ocala, Florida to Lillian Beatrice Old and Fred William Old. In her youth, her love of swimming and diving led Daisy to compete at the state championship level. She also excelled in communications and enjoyed success as the editor of high school publications. Daisy took those skills to the next level at community colleges in Florida and Redding, California, ultimately receiving a Masters Degree from California State University, Chico. Her career included everything from telephone switchboard operator and retail store manager, to psychological counselor and long-time administrator in the Student Financial Aid Office at Chico State. Daisy first married in 1963, then in the early 1970s and finally to Abe Baily in 1983. After more than 34 years together, Daisy remains the perfect partner and soulmate for Abe. Her children also survive her: Mason (Teri); Wendy (Nicky Quinlan) Nichols; Erin Baily; and Ryan Baily. The love and generosity Daisy showed her six grandchildren - Kate, Holly, Michael, Sophia, Levi and Scarlett - is immeasurable. Daisy also leaves a twin Sister, Mary Old-Kooi, and her children Anna (Paulos) and Christopher, all of whom loved, and were dearly loved by, Daisy. Her long-time and beloved caregiver, Misty Correia, was central in Daisy's life, as were Misty's children Skylar, Zach, Kelsey and Tyler Fry. Daisy's two other sisters, brother Fred Old, Jr. and numerous cousins all reside in Florida. Her parents and several aunts and uncles precede her in death. Each member of Daisy's immediate family was with her in the days leading up to her quiet, peaceful death. There is no question the gathering of family and visits by close friends gave Daisy joy in her last days. The family is also very grateful for the loving, professional guidance and assistance provided by the staff of Enloe Home Health and Hospice during her last days. Drs. Julie Archer, Eugene Moffett, & Paramjit Singh were engaged & responsive in caring for her throughout recent years. Daisy faced each day with focus, intent, clarity and tenacity. Always fully present and engaged, she was determined to achieve positive results, not only for herself, but also for others. Daisy's generous spirit had no bounds. Always willing to help, she was a friend to many and was fiercely loyal to her family. We were all blessed to have her in our corner. When she wasn't providing assistance and sharing her love with her family, Daisy enjoyed games and gambling. She approached these activities with zest like she did everything else. We will always smile when we think of Daisy taking delight in playing, which she did until the end. For Daisy's love, fortitude and unwavering generosity, we will always be grateful. Her last week has been a rich and rewarding vigil for those close to Daisy; it has also been taxing. With this in mind, although we encourage you to share thoughts or memories of Daisy, we ask that you post them to the Brusie Funeral Home virtual remembrance/memorial wall, www.brusiefh.com, which is now available. Please be aware that other communication, including Facebook posts, messages or emails to close family members, may not be answered.
