Dale Lucans Parsons
August 6th, 1935 - February 26th, 2017
SFC Dale L. Parsons USA Ret., PhD Dale lost his battle against a damaged heart on February 26, 2017, at the age of 81, and with his loving wife Mari at his side. He was born August 6, 1935 in Alameda CA, the first of 8 siblings. Dale moved with his family to Seattle WA in 1951. Shortly thereafter, he quit school and enlisted in the Military Service. During his military career, he finished High School, achieved a College Degree, received his Masters Degree, and completed his Doctorate. After serving for 24 years, SFC Parsons received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 1977. Dale served around the World including a number of tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a highly decorated Veteran. He was especially proud of the Bronze Star w/V device & 3 Oak Leafs and his numerous Vietnam commendations. Dale and his family made many sacrifices to serve his country. He set a great example for his family and friends. And he was so proud of his children. After his retirement from the military, Dale started several businesses including a Fire Safety and Alarm company and a Private Investigator business. Although Dale almost always had a second (civilian) job while his family was young, he found time to enjoy life. He was an accomplished cross country skier, a navigational award winning boater, and his show car Hotrods won many awards. During the last 20 years, his interest has been motorcycles. He cherished his time with Mari and friends on the many motorcycle trips. Dale loved his wife Mari, his family, and his fellow bikers. Surviving are his wife Mari, sons Dale (Cheryl) and John Parsons, daughters Sherry Peterson, Kathy (Mike) Hohosh, Karen Collen, Linda Jensen, Tracy (Rob) Castro, and Sharon (Chris) Everson; and his stepson Jim (Judy) Reardon, stepdaughters Joanna Whitham, Debra (James) Hake, Judy Jones, Lori (Patrick) Lynch, Matthew (Dani) Finch, and Travis (Carley) Finch. Surviving siblings are Ken (Gale) Parsons, Peggy (Jack) Andrews, and Darlene Senatore. He left behind numerous grandchildren (more than 20) and numerous great grandchildren. Dale was predeceased by his mother Thelma Erixon, father Lucans Parsons, stepdaughter Linda Jean, brother Thomas (Patricia) Parsons, sisters Diane (Gene) Edwards, Sharon (Dave) Howson, and Patricia Allen. Please join the family for Burial with full Military Honors on Mar 10 at 10:30am, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent WA 98402. Celebration of Life and refreshments following the service at VFW, 120 2nd St NE, Puyallup WA.
