Celebrating the life of: Dale “Moose” Andrew Rasmussen Born: December 6th, 1950 in Toledo, Oregon Passed on: September 23rd, 2008 in Olympia, Washington He was the youngest of 6 children born to Mary Elizabeth Jeff and Peter Rasmussen (both deceased). He was preceded in death by his brother, Micki Rasmussen. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Noel Rasmussen; his children, Nerissa (Leonard) Vasquez of New Mexico, Derik Rasmussen of Oregon, Chanda (Josh) Coleman of Oregon, Rhianna Rasmussen on Oregon; step children, Nancy (Don) Lugdon of Alaska, Angela Rossiter of Alaska, Eugena (S. Thomas) Clark of California, and Tina Nelson of Washington; he is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 10 in Alaska, 2 in California, 1 in New Mexico, 7 in Oregon, and one on the way; 2 great grandchildren in Alaska; also his 4 living siblings, Amos Rasmussen, Speed Rasmussen, Irene Eskue, and Maxine Rasmussen. He was very proud of his Danish heritage and collected swords and knives and other Danish objects. Dale was very fond of the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a lifetime member of the Fishing Club of America as well as a lifetime member of the American Hunter’s Association. He also loved to ride his motorcycle and was a member of the Goldwing Club of America. He was involved in the Toys for Christmas run in Ketchikan, Alaska. He built his own charter boat and business in Alaska as well as his home in Ketchikan with the help of his son, Derik. In Ketchikan he worked as a carpenter in the Maintenance Department at the Gateway Ketchikan School District. He always liked working with children and this gave him that opportunity. He was very well known and liked in Ketchikan and loved living there very much. He left only because of his health. Dale was always building things for his home and extended family; tables, chests, chairs, jewel boxes, other types of furniture, bookcases, etc. Working with wood was one of his passions and everything he made was always extremely beautiful and appreciated by all who received these gifts. He was a wonderful husband, friend and devoted father to all his children. He will be dearly missed and always loved. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Masonic Center, 455 North Street SE, Tumwater. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service at Dale’s home: 922 Notingham Dr. SE Lacey WA 98503 360-456-4932
