Dale Brian Whiting
January 25th, 1970 - September 19th, 2024
Dale Brian Whiting, a beloved father, skilled craftsman, lifelong learner, and talented web programmer, passed away on September 19, 2024, at the age of 54.
Dale will be remembered by his beautiful children, Devon and Caitlin; his parents, Brian and Yvonne Whiting; sister Helen Pinneke and brother-in-law Rick, brother Mark Whiting, sister Jane Horne; his nephew Justin Pinneke; his loved one Sherilyn Whiting; and, his extended family and loving friends. Dale’s charm, humor, intellect, and wisdom will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Dale was born in Oxford, England on January 25, 1970, and became a proud naturalized US citizen in 2003. He held a degree in electrical engineering and was known for his sharp wit, problem-solving abilities, and could fix just about anything. In his youth, Dale lived and traveled with his family in England, Scotland, Yugoslavia (modern day Serbia), Singapore, and United States. Growing up, Dale loved spending time in England with his grandparents and cousins. After years of travel, his family settled in Arlington, Texas where he would graduate from Lamar High School in 1988. Some of his most cherished memories were playing soccer and working at Six Flags and Putt-Putt Golf & Games where he met friends that he had for the remainder of his life. He began his career in electrical engineering in Dallas, Texas. Then, with his love of computers and problem-solving, he branched over to web development that he continued throughout his career.
Dale met Sherilyn in 1991, married in 1998, then moved to Colorado Springs to enjoy the outdoors where they raised their two children, Devon and Caitlin. They were married for 25 years and continued raising their family together. After years in Colorado, he settled back in Texas. Dale cherished his children deeply and his love for them was evident in everything he did. He delighted in making them laugh with silly dad jokes, ridiculous faces, creative meals, and sharing his love of classic rock and arcade games. His love of music is the thread that connected our family throughout the years and will be cherished by all who knew him. His passion for home projects, woodworking, and his knack for creativity brought joy not only to himself, but to those around him. Dale’s great sense of humor, love for puns, and dry British humor was a source of laughter and light with his family and friends.
He will be remembered in Texas on October 12, 2024 at 2 p.m. at J. Gilligan’s, 400 E. Abram Street, Arlington, Texas, 76010. And, Colorado Memorial Service will be held at New Life Midtown Church, 5090 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80918 on October 18, 2024 at 10 a.m. and will be live streamed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John Zay Guest House, 213 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
We will always remember Dale’s sparkle of quick wit and lifelong pursuit of knowledge. As our daughter asked Dale when she was young what he was doing on the computer and he said, “Oh, just learning something new,” and she said “but, you already know everything.”
Dale leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, and a reminder to cherish life’s little moments.
