January 5th, 1998 - October 26th, 2015
Online Obituaries for Versailles KY Dalton McClellan Phillips, left us Monday, October 26, 2015. Dalton has left behind his father, John S. Phillips, his mother Tawnya Kennedy, his grandmother Judy Phillips, his grandparents, John T. Phillips and Arlene Vallon, his Godmother Lisa Venn, his beloved Charlie and Iva Jane Currens and Joe and Barbara Smith, his aunts Lisa Brown, Pat Jude, Marcia New, and Deborah Gould, numerous loved cousins, and life-long, treasured friends who have always been family. Dalton was born on January 5, 1998 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. From the day that he arrived, he was a joy, a blessing, and a light of love. Dalton was kind, loyal, loving, understanding, thoughtful, and charitable. Dalton wanted everyone to get along and be good to each other. He wore his heart on his sleeve and felt others pain as his own. Dalton was gentle and sweet with younger children and senior elders. He was smart, thoughtful, loving, generous, and loved animals. Dalton attended Versailles Montessori School from preschool through 5th grade, St. Leo middle school, Lexington Catholic, Woodford County, Beechwood, and Dixie Heights High Schools. Dalton played Woodford County Youth soccer, football, basketball, and baseball and was a member of the 4 H shooters club. He played 6 years of piano and participated in all school events and activities. He was Romeo in the school play at Versailles Montessori. At St Leo, Dalton served his parish and cantored for Friday Mass. He played three years of basketball, indoor soccer, and participated in numerous programs and events, such as the Coffee House, the Christmas store, Taylor Manor programs, and Catholic Action charities. He attended Lexington Catholic and played on the football team there. He went to Woodford County School and played indoor soccer. He moved to Northern Kentucky and attended both Beechwood School and Dixie Heights High School. Most recently, he was singing with the Bass Choir of Dixie Heights and was practicing and looking for to his senior year Lacrosse team season. From the time that Dalton was five years old, he decided that instead of accepting birthday gifts at his parties from friends, he would enlist his friends to make donations of money and goods to one of his charities each year. With the help of his friends and families, he donated to Catholic Action, to Woodford Humane Society, to the Woodford Food Bank, and to Taylor Manor. He was generous of heart and resources. He loved to make other people smile and he loved to have fun. He was competitive, courageous, honorable, and faithful. He never let his team down, he never quit, and he was a team player, never seeking the glory over the team. Dalton McClellan Phillips, middle named from his mother's father, Edward McClellan Kennedy previously passed, is so loved, so cherished, and so already missed. We, his family and friends, will always be blessed and forever better off for having the chance to know and love him.
