Dan L. Silva

Dan L. Silva, 69, of Yuba City, passed away March 25, 2016 surrounded by friends and loved ones. Born in Yuba City, Dan was a lifelong Sutter County resident. Dan was a 3rd generation farmer, and served as District 5 Sutter County Supervisor from 2000 - 2008. Dan was an avid duck hunter, and as recently a world traveler. His daughter, Stacey (Tom) Purnell of England, Christopher (Desiree) of Yuba City, and four grandchildren Samantha and Jamie Purnell, and Dylan and Mason Silva survive Dan. His wife Candace Silva precedes Dan in death. Dan was involved in many Committees and Boards, Feather River Air Quality, Sacramento Area Council of Governments, Sacramento Area Flood Control, Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS, Sutter-Butte Flood Control Agency, Yuba City Unified School Government Liaison Committee, Yuba-Sutter Transit Authority, Sutter County Fish and Game Commissioner, Assistant State Chairman for Ducks Unlimited, California State Reclamation Board, and a Member of the Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau. He was also a Board Member on Valley Vision, and The Natomas Basin Conservancy. Dan was also Manager of the Yuba City Certified Farmers Market for many years. At Dan's request, services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held April 10, 2016 from 12-5 at the Walnut Community Center, 1431 Walnut Ave., Yuba City, CA. -
