Daniel Lee
October 4th, 1925 - December 6th, 2013
Daniel Joseph Lee was born to Robert E. Lee and Teresa Victoria Lee October 4, 1925 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was the third of four children. Daniel entered the U.S. Maritime Service on September 1, 1943. He was assigned to deck duty in the US Merchant Marine Service where he defended our freedom in World War II and Korean War. In 1946 he received his US Merchant Marine Officers License to serve as a third mate. On April 12, 1947, Daniel married Helen Patricia Miller. Their greatest achievement was parenting nine children (in order of birth) Daniel, Patrick, Susan, Lawrence, Janet, Robert, Carol, Kathy and Joanne. The family moved to Cocoa Beach in 1960 where he was employed with the space industry. While working full time in the field of engineering, Daniel earned his BS in Business from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. He participated in many significant construction and engineering projects such as oil refineries on the east coast, clean rooms for NASA, the Miller Brewery plant in Irwindale, CA and the nuclear power plants of San Onofre and St. Lucie County, FL. The family moved to Southern California in 1974 and resided in Placentia, Ca. Daniel was a dedicated father and husband, actively involved in the coaching and sports activities of all of his children. Upon full retirement, Dan and Helen moved to Date Palm Country Club in Cathedral City, CA in 1992 where he resided until December 6, 2013 when he passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88. Daniel Joseph Lee was a devout Catholic and attended Saint Louis Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Helen Lee, 9 children, 22 grandchildren, and his brother John “Jack” Lee. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and grandson Nate Strader. His celebration of life will be held at the Date Palm Country Club at 6:00 PM, Saturday December 14, 2013 - to be preceded by the standard 4:00 PM mass at Saint Louis Church in Cathedral City, CA.
