WEST COLUMBIA - Daniel James Mason, 42, of West Columbia, SC, passed away unexpectedly, October 9, 2021. Born in Topeka, KS, he grew up riding bicycles, building forts, and exploring the backyard. Dan loved animals, and had many pets, including a cat named “Cat”. He graduated from Seaman High School. He also received his pilot's license through the Explorers program at Forbes Field. Later, Dan received his Bachelors in Aeronautics from K-State. He then pursued a number of different careers including long haul truck driving, and large-scale plumbing operations. Dan loved to fly. He enjoyed the challenge of building and creating. He was always willing to help others fix anything- appliances, cars, and gadgets. He also had a love for adventure. He is survived by his wife (separated) Krysti (Bouknight) Mason; his parents, Mark and Sharon Mason; brother, Bill Mason; sister, Susan Yoder (Chip); niece and nephew. He was predeceased by grandparents John and Helen Lampe and Cleon and Mary Mason. Dan will be missed by his friends and entire family including his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 15th at Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel at 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Dan's funeral service will be webcast for those unable to attend his service in person.
