On Saturday, July 8, 2023, the world lost an incredible soul with the passing of Daniel Medina, a loving husband and father of three children. At the age of 88, Daniel's journey on this Earth came to an end, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. Born on June 9, 1935, in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico, Daniel was the beloved son of Jose and Cruzita Medina. From an early age, he exhibited a sense of duty and patriotism, which led him to join the U.S. Army at the tender age of 18. With unwavering dedication, he served his country for an impressive 21 years, rising to the esteemed rank of E-8, First Sergeant. Daniel's commitment to service was unwavering, and even after retiring from the military, he continued his noble work as a Department of Defense civilian employee. It was at the United States Air Force Academy, where he served as a supervisor, that he eventually retired for a second time. Daniel's life was a tapestry woven with love, passion, and devotion. During his first tour in Panama, fate intervened, and he found himself captivated by the enchanting Myriam Macchi. Love blossomed, and they embarked on a journey together, united in marriage. Together, they raised two sons, Solomon and Jose, and one cherished daughter, Patricia. Their home was filled with laughter, warmth, and an unbreakable bond that stood as a testament to Daniel's unwavering love for his family. Music was Daniel's heart and soul. Gifted with an extraordinary talent, he possessed the rare ability to effortlessly pick up any instrument and play it by ear. Amongst his many musical endeavors, the guitar held a special place in his heart. With each strum of the strings, Daniel's melodies resonated with a profound beauty that touched the souls of all who had the pleasure of listening. Beyond his musical prowess, Daniel will be remembered for his unwavering faith and genuine kindness. He was a man of faith, guided by his deep spirituality and a profound connection to his Creator. His quick wit and cheesy jokes could brighten even the darkest of days, and his infectious smile was a beacon of light that radiated warmth to all who crossed his path. Above all, his compassionate spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. As we bid farewell to Daniel, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind. His love will forever echo in the hearts of his beloved wife, Myriam, his children, Solomon, Jose, and Patricia, and his extended family and friends. His legacy of love, devotion, and selflessness will continue to inspire generations to come, reminding us all of the importance of cherishing our loved ones and embracing the beauty of life. Daniel leaves behind his wife; Myriam Medina; children, Solomon (Doris) Medina, Jose (Juanita) Medina and Patricia Niemann; grandchildren, Christina Medina, Leah (Benjamin) Brabec, Andrew McDermott and Lauren Niemann, great-grandchildren, Issac Medina, Deanna Medina and Nicholas Medina Cappiello and siblings, Elena Gonzales, Elijah Espinoza, and Ademia (Marcial) Valdez. In celebration of Daniel Medina's extraordinary life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Awakening Church, 3445 Oro Blanco Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80917.
