Put me in coach, I’m ready to play. Just a song lyric but maybe more of a life quote. He made us strong, he made a team, he made me know what I could do when the going got tough. I can still hear him walking down the hall or in the gym. That bundle of keys on his hip broadcasting his arrival. I’ve was a marvel at his inside game near the basketball hoop. You didn’t get close with his quick spin and elbows flying. We took Oregon State 8 man foot ball title in 67. Everybody just called him Coach and still do.

My prayers and condolences go out to the entire family. Mr. Pero was my principal at Middleton Senior High School and I will always remember his very professional demeanor and how he handle all the students. He was kind and firm, which I needed. Thanks for the lessons Mr. Pero.

I cannot imagine how my life would have turned out if not for Dan Pero. He took a chance and hired me at MHS and my next 35 years were pure joy. Dan was a friend and a mentor. Nothing, absolutely nothing but cherished memories.

I send my sincere condolences to you family members. I came to NPHS as a senior exchange student in 1988/89. Mr Pero was so nice, kind and helpful, I liked his smily face. Sorry he has passed, but I believe he left many people with nice memories. We'll meet again, Mr Pero💙 Lea Rupcic from Croatia; moved to Italy
