Daniel Con Postupack, 82, of Satellite Beach, Florida, was called home by the Lord on July 16, 2015. Dan was born on November 29, 1932 in McAdoo, Pennsylvania to Con and Mary Postupack of Still Creek, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice (Pat) Postupack. After graduating from Tamaqua High School, Dan enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1951 where he became an expert rifleman and a competitive shooter. He served in Korea until 1952. His service in the Marine Corp career concluded when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1954. Shortly after his return from service, he married his highschool sweetheart, Alice "Pat" Satoris of Tamaqua, PA and started his family. Dan went on to graduate from Penn State University in 1955 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following college, he went to work for two years with Republic Aircraft on Long Island before joining Grumman Aerospace where he worked for 37 years. During his tenure with Grumman Aerospace, Dan worked as a Mechanical and Marine Structural Engineer in the Aeronautical, Aerospace, and Marine Divisions. His career highlights include working as Project Engineering Manager designing Hydrofoil boats for the Israeli Navy, both in Florida and Israel. He also worked on the J-Stars program designing aircrafts for reconnaissance and counter surveillance missions. While living on Long Island, Dan also worked as an NRA Firearms Instructor, a Range Officer for the Islip Town Rifle and Pistol Range, and as an Auxillary Police Officer for Islip. Favorite pastimes included hunting, golfing, football, shooting, "Scramlet" word puzzles, and working on his cars. Dan enjoyed going to his "second home", a family-built hunting cabin nestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania. He was a member of Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, FL and the Spacecoast Chapter of the Grumman Retirees Club. Above all things, family was the most important aspect in Dan's life and he enjoyed being surrounded by those he loved whether it be at "Postupack's Paradise" on Tortoise Island or anywhere else. He will be greatly missed by his children Dan and Patty (Trinkwald), Duane and Nina (Albany), Denise and Jim (Fliedner), Dirk and Maria (Gross), Deidre, and William Bachsmith; His grandchildren Melissa, Danny, Krystal, Dana, Steven, Jennifer, Craig, Courtney, Drew, Christopher and Tyler; His great grandchild Easton James McCormick; His siblings Maureen and Harold (Jacobson), Romayne and Floyd (Kovach-Berk), Nancy, Edward (Zatoris), Muriel "Teddie" (Satoris); and numerous extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Stephen, Percy "Buzz" (Satoris), and Jerome (Satoris). Daniel was full of generosity, integrity, and compassion. He had a commitment to excellence. He was always willing to help others in need and challenged others to be the best they can be. Daniel will always be remembered for his wit, wisdom, honesty, his leadership proficiency, his strong work ethic, his kindness, honor, faith, family, and his love for this country. He leaves behind a great legacy whose shoes cannot be filled. We will all hold dear the countless fond memories we have of him and the stories that he told. As stated in the movie Big Fish (2003), "The man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal." Until we meet again at Postie's Paradise in the sky, we love you, Man. The family would also like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctor's that cared for Dan including Gentiva Homecare and Holmes Regional Medical Center along with Dr. Wayne Rodriguez, Dr. Charles Stewart, Dr. Jim Zavitsanos, Dr. Ortega, and Dr. Ronaldson. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations made to either the Wounded Warriors Project, Spacecoast Grumman Retirees Club Scholarship Fund, Honor Flight, and/or Alzheimer's Association.
