In addition to directing choral groups, Dan had a fine singing voice and participated frequently as a member of performing groups. Dan toured Europe with the Gregg Smith singers. Columbia Records recorded the performances. Business involvements relocated Dan to Connecticut, and eventually to Burlington Vermont. Dan continued to teach while at the same time pursue his passion for music and the Arts. He also reviewed performances in Montreal, Quebec. Dan also wrote poetry and short stories for his own and his friends reading pleasure. Dan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. He bravely fought the symptoms until his recent death. In the late stages of the disease he traveled to Tacoma, Washington to be close to his brother and sister and their families for support and comfort. He will be missed but not forgotten by his family and many friends as he continues to direct the choirs of Angels in heaven.
