Danny Lee Hunt

Please click the link below to join the livestream of Danny's service. https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/1069804429 Danny Lee Hunt of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on December 5, 2022, at Meridian, Idaho; he was 79 years old and would have been 80 had he lived until January 3, 2023. He was the second of four children born to Theodore Lewis Hunt and Mildred Louise Jackson Hunt. Danny was born in Council, Idaho on 3 January, 1943. He moved with his family to Weiser, Idaho in 1956 where he completed his education, graduating from Weiser High School in 1961. He joined the US Navy in July, 1961 and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1981. He was a Hospital Corpsman with a specialty in Aviation Medicine, and he was a designated Aircrewman accumulating nearly 2000 hours of flight time on medi-vac and rescue flights. He received an Associate Degree in Nursing while in the service, graduating from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. While in the US Navy, he was stationed in California (4 times), Washington, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia (2 times), Texas, Guam, and Vietnam. Danny had many varied occupations in his life starting as a theater usher at age 10. He worked as a lumber's apprentice, meat cutter, farm hand, security guard, funeral home attendant, shipping/receiving clerk, warehouse man and supervisor, parts man for a heavy equipment dealership, assembly line work, liquor store clerk, and lumberyard manager. Danny married Vera Barnes on 28 Sep, 1991, in Bothell, Washington. They moved to Garden Valley, Idaho in October 1992 where he managed the Crouch Lumber Yard until he retired in 2005. They moved to Meridian, Idaho in 2011. Danny is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Vera, siblings Kay Campbell (Tom) of Boise, Stephen Hunt (Nancy) of Boise, Douglas (Linda) of Boise, many nieces and nephews, two step daughters, (Cheryl Barnes-Peterson (Todd) of Redmond, Washington, Diana Bell (Todd) of Everett, Washington, and three step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Summers Funeral Home at 3629 E. Ustick Road, Meridian, Idaho, at 11:00 AM on December 20, 2022, with graveside services to follow at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery, Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Danny's name may be made to the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 382 of Nampa, Idaho, at 1012 11th Avenue N, Nampa, Idaho, 83656.
