Danny Charles Smith

Obituary Danny Charles Smith passed away on Wed., April 20, 2011, in Ft. Collins, at the age of 60. He was born on Feb. 1, 1951, in Ft. Collins, to Ernest and Lela Smith. He graduated from Poudre High School in 1970. Danny married LeeAnn Dale on Dec. 10, 1975, in Ft. Collins. Danny and LeeAnn were happily married for 35 years. They raised four children in Ft. Collins. When they were growing up, he loved to take his family for long drives and trips to the mountains. He enjoyed camping and picnics. Family time was very important to him. Danny was a wonderful and loving husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, which brought so much joy to his life. His grandchildren called him "Pa." Danny worked as the custodian at the Coloradoan newspaper for several years and then he found a second "work family" at Family Medicine Center in Fort Collins. He so enjoyed working with everyone there. His infectious smile and warm personality will always live on in the lives of those with whom he had the pleasure of working. Danny is survived by his wife, LeeAnn; son Scott; daughters, Danielle and Kelly; daughter Sabrina and her spouse Nathan Engle; grandchildren, Amber, Jared, Kylie, Taylor, Danni, Marcus, Joshua, Kayla, Devin; great grandchild Gabe; mother Lela; brothers, Ernie, Jerry and Philip; sisters, Teresa, Roxy, Becky and Judy; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his dad; two brothers; and two infant daughters. Cremation was done by Vessey Funeral Service. A celebration of Danny's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Timberline Church, East Auditorium.
