Danny Neil West

Danny Neil West was born January 20, 1937 to Margaret and Clarence West in Yuba City, CA. Dan's home was built by his grandfather 109 years ago. Dan graduated from Bridge Street School, and Yuba City High, always among the top students. His parents involved him in the community and charities encouraging him to be selfless. He became interested in education through the many teachers who inspired his life. Dan completed Chico State receiving his credential and graduating with honors. Dan student taught at Lincoln School, beginning his teaching career in the Linda School district and teaching most of his 42 years at Alicia School. Mr. West's classes were blessed with a teacher who guided them, loved them, and took care of them often years beyond his class. He quietly supported dozens of former students, friends and families in need. Dan also was involved in supporting the Boy Scouts, Camp Rocking U, the Metropolitan Opera, and multiple local charities. If you were a friend of Danny's, you were family and he took care of you. Danny was an accomplished pianist, opera enthusiast, culinary master, artistic, and well read often completing up to ten books a week. Dan loved to travel with friends, and entertain where he showed off his home and treasures. He was quick witted, and opinionated on all subject areas. Of all the pleasure he enjoyed, Dan enjoyed shopping with his friends. If you own stock in Amazon, now is a good time to sell! Danny is preceded in passing by his parents Clarence and Margaret and beloved pets Buck and Buck. Dan is survived by loving relatives and a huge family of friends he loved. A celebration of Dan's life will be held January 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Marysville, with a reception to follow at the Marysville Art Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Environmental Alternatives/Camp Rocking U in Dobbins.
